I never could get the hang of Tuesdays. (apologies to Arthur Dent.)
I’m all a twitter today, as there are a number of things on the go, some of which are big and some are not. It’s a drab and soggy day here, a little on the chill side because of the damp, and I must be on my 4th cup of tea. It’s only 11 am. That’s a lot of tea before 11 am, especially since I started the day with coffee.
I’m hoping this will work in my favour:

A shooting star of sorts. I have a whole window full of ‘em, courtesy of Ikea. Very nice and festive, and will, I hope, prove lucky in the eBay department. I’ll let you know tomorrow how it turns out. And no, it’s not knitting related…
I really love this time of year, when all the lights come out and the festive spirit starts to get around. The snow we have is really helping to get people in the mood, and the neighbourhood is starting to get gussied up. Now, as much as I love Christmas lights and decorations, there’s no way I could hold a proverbial candle to these guys, just around the corner from me. It’s truly a sight to behold!

It’s a little like the Jim Carey version of the Grinch. But so much fun! I’m glad I don’t have the glow coming into my bedroom window at night though. And imagine what the hydro bill must be like!
There is a little bit of knit-related interest today too. My October Rockin’ Sock Club package took quite the roundabout route here, which resulted in the kit’s arrival only last week. The yarn is drop dead gorgeous, and the pattern is beautiful! Great job Steph! This is pretty much how I feel about it:

Mmmmm….. yarn…..

Or, how a great big dump of snow and an enthusiastic neighbour had me shoveling for over an hour…
It’s looking decidedly like winter around there parts. It’s not all that cold really,

But this kind of temperature is perfect for snow. Too warm and it’s freezing rain or just plain rain, and too cold and the moisture gets sucked out of the air and there is no precipitation.

Unfortunately there was a lot of shoveling to do as a result, so there was precious little light left in the day once I had a moment to start taking photos. Needless to say, when the camera came out Blitzen came over to investigate.

(Again with the low light)
What did he find me photographing? I can’t show you completely, as it’s the season of secret knits, but I think I can get away with showing you this…

I’m not even going to say if the colour shows up properly. That’s just how secretive I am…!
No seaming done yet, but soon. I do want the gratification of a proper, sweater-sized FO…

This is what we woke up to this morning:

Snow! Good thing I got the last of the raking done yesterday… When I threw Evan’s curtains open for him to see it, the first thing he said was “It’s winter!” Hence, the post title. Unfortunately I didn’t get my act together to get a photo of him out in the snow. He was so excited that I let him out in his boots and pyjamas and coat so that he could have a run around in the first snow of the season. You should have seen it. I wish I’d had a coffee beforehand to battle the camnesia!
There is precious little to blog about these days, what with the arrival of Christmas around the corner and everything being all secret-like. But there is this:

Can you believe? A proper FO on the horizon? Stay tuned…
For now, I’m off to shovel snow! Enjoy the arrival of winter!
