Looking for Holiday gift ideas for your favourite knitter? Want to stuff your own stocking? (Hmm. That sounds odd…)
I hand make beaded stitch markers and am offering them for sale. Here is a very small selection of the dozens I have available.

I will have better photos soon, in proper lighting and well focused!
Anyway, let me know which ones you like and you can get the ones in the photo or ones just like them, or just tell me the colours you like and I can pick some for you. Otherwise, I can make markers on spec- you tell me what you’d like and I can make it up for you.
I am selling them for $1.50 each or 4 for $5.00. More elaborate ones are $2.00 and up, depending on the materials used. Prices in Cdn funds.
They will fit up to about a 6mm needle.
Please drop me a line at sarah(at)ostrowalker(dot)com and we can talk about payment and shipping.
Thanks!
So let’s start at the beginning. We’re moving. Excuse me while I take a moment to compose myself…
Ok. That’s better.
I am not a particularly organized person at the best of times, so now that we are getting close to M-Day I am finding this to be a very troubling personality trait of mine. Witness- The Stash:
Huh. Look at that. I’ve misplaced the photo.
Anyway….. The Stash is overflowing its containment system and spilling over onto any and all nearby available spaces. I think my poor husband has decided that in the interest of a happy marriage he’ll just keep mainly quiet about the whole thing.

Well. Would you look at that. 6 weeks have elapsed since I started writing this post… how embarassing! We moved in the first week of November, and as is to be expected with a move, it has sort of taken over my life. Our lives.
Let me explain. We moved out of a small 100 year-old place, something like 1000-1200 sq ft. We were overflowing. We had nowhere to put guests, we were always running over toys, and just try to find a spot to take a photo for the blog! It was a disaster. No storage space, No room to breathe. So we moved up in the world! We moved into a large, 3 storey 100 year-old place, about 2400 sq ft, with enough room to put our stuff. I get a sewing room (a SEWING ROOM!!) and we still have a spare bedroom. Joshua and I have a master *suite* (although I’m not fond of that term. Sounds too… I dunno. I just don’t think it fits) and for once there is enough room that we aren’t always falling all over our 3 cats. Somehow though, we still feel cramped. Why? Well, could be the rooms full of boxes which are yet to be unpacked, the fact that we have a lot of furniture that is meant to hold stuff but the stuff in question is still in boxes, not in the furniture. Everything is taking up more space. Funny how that works, eh? But hey, we’re getting there. Slowly but surely.
The other thing about buying a 100 year-old house is that it comes with its own set of interesting challenges above and beyond the usual having to paint to get rid of the previous owners’ sense of “style”. In fact, we were lucky that she painted the house varying shades of beige in order to sell, so nothing (other than our master bathroom and carpet- yes, carpet in the bathroom…) really offends me. We haven’t had to paint. We have, however, had to pull up the powder room toilet to see why it was leaking into the basement and found that the seal, well, didn’t. We also found that the floor was rotten and that we’ll need to replace at least a section of it.
We have discovered that the back room addition isn’t insulated. At all as far as we can tell. The floor is mighty chilly as you might imagine given that it’s December in Ottawa.
So, I think you’re getting the idea. I am still really glad we bought the place and moved, and I am really looking forward to our first Christmas in the new house, but could someone please tell me- Any idea where I packed my Denise kit??
**In the file of “Funny things found while moving”: a sketch portrait done of me about 10 or 12 years ago. Anyone think it looks like me? No? Perhaps more like some older aunt? Yeah, that’s what I thought too. I keep it though to see if the sands of time will shift me in that direction…
